What better way to distract from the icy blasts of winter (full disclosure - it’s going to be in the 50’s next week …) than by enjoying some guacamole and chips!
I think the senior hookers are going for a Republican-specific look. Blonde hair, heavy but traditional makeup to denote “femininity” like Barbie, Dolly Parton or Vegas showgirls. Most R women in the media look exactly alike- see the Faux News anchor look.
Tressie McMillan Cottom has an excellent essay on the popularity of “Bama rush” Tik-Tok and how it all reinforces traditional white femininity for those threatened by other types of expression.
What's curious is, to make a cooking metaphor, everyone adds a pinch salt to a particular recipe but few choose to add a pound of it. They've taken the "look" and turned the dial up to 12, which moves them off from "Republican feminine" to "Nightclub nightmare". There's been a ton of research on what makes a woman attractive to the average man and what they're doing sure ain't it. ;-)
Right, but I don’t think the look is necessarily to attract the average man, it’s an in-group signifier of belonging.
Women dress for other women even when there are no men around. Like you look at a corporate women’s group and they are mostly in nice dresses, makeup, hair styled, to show “I’m part of the club”.
Don’t think there’s much to be done about the oxidizing guac—except to consume every last bit! Congrats on the WSJ cartoon!
Not much to be done ...? Hmmmm, a challenge ...

Brrrr. Makes me glad I'm not in that in-group!
